Team Manager Steve Hagger has an outstanding history of success in world-class sportscar racing. Tasked with setting up Veloqx Motorsport in 2002, Steve took the 3-car Ferrari 360 team to victory in the British GT Drivers’ Championship in its very first year. The following season, in conjunction with Prodrive, Veloqx entered a Ferrari 550 in the Le Mans 24 Hours – and won the GTS Class.
From Veloqx, Hagger moved to Gruppe M Racing which won both the Driver and Team British GT Championships in 2004, before going on to win the 2005 FIA GT2 Driver and Team Championships.
In 2006, Steve worked both with Damax (FIA GT3) and Tech9 Motorsport (Carrera Cup – GB). Finally, before moving to Gigawave MotorSport, he was part of the Tech9 team that achieved a podium place (GT2) at Spa, in the outfit’s first 24-hour race.
Team Principal Fenton Yeulett is not only a qualified Mechanical Engineer, he has extensive experience of working with many of the world's leading motorsport teams.
His areas of expertise include optical fibres and telecommunications and, during his several years with Formula One Management (FOM), he was a member of the team responsible for providing live on-board camera images at every Grand Prix.
This know-how was a valuable asset during Fenton's early years with Gigawave, where he was directly involved with A1GP, MotoGP and the World Rally Championship. As part of the Gigawave Special Projects Team, Yeulett was closely involved with the development and testing of the Company's digital on-board camera system and worked closely with Damax throughout that team’s inaugural FIA GT3 European Championship season (2006). Likewise, Yeulett worked closely with Barwell Motorsport, which ran Gigawave's Aston Martin DBR9 in 2007.
Ross has been involved with motorsport since he was 10. He started out in Karting before becoming a mechanic, giving him valuable experience in the driving element of racing as well as the technical side.
He has an FdSc in Motorsport from Myerscough College and has worked for some of the major race teams in the UK including Tech 9 Motorsport and Scuderia Ecosse, racing in the FIA GT and GT3 Championships as well as the Le Mans Endurance Series among others.
Rik's career has seen him work for numerous motor racing teams where he has consistently worked his way up to No 1 Mechanic status.
He has previously worked in LMGT2 and various single seater-racing categories and is looking to further develop his career by making the move into the FIA GT Championship.
Rik studied Motorsport at Myerscough College, before working as a Lecturer there after he graduated.
Chris Johnston is currently studying ‘Motorsport Engineering’ at Oxford Brookes University and is working for Gigawave Motorsport with the full support and co-operation of his tutors. Indeed, students are actively encouraged to work in motorsport during the course, which leads to a B.Eng.
In addition to Gigawave Motorsport, Chris has worked for Power Engineering and worked alongside Steve Hagger at Tech9 Motorsport.
Paul is a Class 1 Race Truckie, responsible for his race transporter vehicle as well as assisting the mechanics in race-prepping the cars. During races, Paul is a refueler for the car during pit stops.
He has many years of experience working within motorsport and has worked at Butler Motorsport and ABG Motorsport.
Karen Coombes’ background is corporate hospitality, working for French and Bloomfield as an Account Manager. Here she was responsible for a number of motorsport industry clients including Prodrive, Team Ascari, and Team Suzuki. From French and Bloomfield she moved on to become Race Team Secretary/Office Manager for Veloqx Motorsport, VeloqxProdrive, Team Maranello Concessionaires, VeloqxCareRacing, and Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx, where she gained a great dealof valuable experience.
Most recently, Karen worked with Sidhu&Simon Communications as an Event Manager organizing the Santander British Grand Prix 2007 and for Tech9 Motorsport as a team and driver co-ordinator.
