Drivers

Philipp Peter

In 1989, thanks to family contacts, Philipp Peter was invited to participate in a training course for potential racing drivers at the Walter Lechner Racing School. As the course progressed, Philipp realised that a career in motorsport was now his ambition.

Philipp’s father also raced and was close friends with Formula One drivers, Niki Lauda and Jochen Rindt. In fact, it was with thanks to the fact that Niki Lauda was able to negotiate a deal with Alfa Romeo to supply the engines that Philipp Peter was able to embark on his career in F3.

When not racing, Philipp Peter enjoys a wide variety of sports including water skiing, winter skiing, squash, tennis and golf. Philipp has a passion for ice hockey and still plays two to three times a week for a local team.

Allan Simonsen

Born in Denmark, Allan brings some trademark Scandinavian cool to the team. He has been racing since the age of 10, and has performed around the world. More recently he has been racing in Australia and living in Melbourne.

Allan is respected throughout racing as a supremely talented driver who looks after the car, ensuring he regularly finishes races. He has consistently performed at the highest level in karts, track cars and rallying.

He joins Gigawave MotorSport as the reigning Australian GT Champion, and has won races in the British GT Championship, the FIA GT3 Championship and took 3rd in class at the 2007 24 Heures du Mans.

When Allan is not behind the wheel, he enjoys skiing, riding dirt bikes and practicing Yoga.

Andy Thompson

Coming from the same Scottish town as his hero, F1 legend Jackie Stewart, Andy Thompson looks to have motorsport running through his blood. The 27 year old has raced in British F3, the FIA GT3 Championship, and some leading endurance events including the ‘12 Hours of Sebring’ in Florida.

Andy has been a Gigawave supported driver for the past two FIA GT3 Championship seasons, through his involvement with the Damax Ascari team.

When not at the circuit, Andy likes the outdoor lifestyle, and his hobbies include water-skiing and snowboarding.
